I'm getting wimpy in my old age.
I bought the new coffee, Folgers Black Silk. It has a Starbucks kind of taste to it, and I really, really do like it. But I think I would like it better with a little milk or cream. Just a few years ago, I would never have even considered "ruining" a cup of good coffee with cream. And that's just another bit of proof that I am getting old.
Speaking of products that we like or don't, what things can you not live without? Or, what things do you hate...
I must have:
Arm and Hammer toothpaste, none of that sweet crap for me.
My Mary Kay skin care...the whole line. I have tried others many times, none of them measure up. NONE of them.
Hard back books. No paperbacks. (Except in a very few cases). They have to be new. I have weird phobia's about this.
Slimy lip gloss, although about any brand will do. I am addicted.
Altoids by the bucket. Wintergreen, although I have been known to get by with Peppermint.
Cross training shoes, Nike or Skechers, preferably.
Comfy, thick socks for being at home.
Soft blankets, even in the summer, I want to be covered up...with the ac blasting, of course.
In my car, the heated seats are on full blast, no matter what time of year.
Medicine-y mouthwash.
Men's deodorant. Women's is just too flowery.
I have issues with perfume's and soaps that smell too much. Most things like this make me nauseous...so the only cologne that I can stand is Curve and Skin. Both are cheap...a plus to me. In fact, Skin is so cheap...I can just about bathe in it.
My jewelry. I am not dressed until I have on all five rings, a bracelet and a necklace. I never take out my earrings. I also never change them...although they do get sort of grody, and I take them out to clean them, occasionally. I do not wear the other jewelry at home though, not ever. When I am here, it's all put away.
Yes, I know, my habits are odd. But I'll be you all have some odd ones, too. Want to share?
Have a really good Friday.
:)
I have fixed it all for years and years, but now I refuse. I will just go with it, broken or not.

Oh what a Monday.
Well, it certainly is Monday. Ugh. Double Ugh, and I don't even have to hurry off to work.
I slept like the dead, and I cannot get it together this morning. It had been so long since I have been able to sleep, now I will probably have trouble waking up, geez.
I have a lot to accomplish today, beginning with taxes...oh how I love the IRS.
Oh great, Kitty 1 is throwing up on my couch.
Have a wonderful, wonderful Monday.

Kittys and tacky and dorky, oh my!
I wanted to try something different today, so here is a photo blog of my Saturday.
This is Mason, AKA known as Farfield, because Soul and I cannot ever find the G Key when we are "chatting" in the morning...and because he sleeps on my head, like Garfield slept on John's head, in the comic strip.
This is Meisha. She loves Mark and always hops into his briefcase anytime he opens it.
This is my plate - and no, I didn't eat ALL of it. Almost but not all. I hate coleslaw if you must know, so Mark ate mine.
So then, I asked Mark to take a picture of me that wasn't dorky. Riiggght.

This was attempt number 1. One eye partially open, the other completely closed. Good job Mark.
Then, below is attempt number 2. BOTH eyes closed. Even better.

Below, you will find attempt number 3. We gave up.

And finally, a photo of Mark, while he drives. He always looks dorky, so I didn't try again.
Happy Sunday!
Yesterday, Mark and I said the hell with it - and decided we needed to get out of the house. So we drove to our most favorite restaurant on earth, a place that would indeed win THE MOST TACKY PLACE EVER award. It is hands down the best place on the planet for fried catfish. It is in Sedalia Missouri, three hours away from where I live.
It is next to the Missouri state fair grounds.

You better be, good to me
Another Friday - holy crap, I cannot keep up. This week has been nothing short of screwed up, but still, I would think I would do a better job of keeping up with all of it.
I managed to get a huge mess in my house straightened out yesterday; now my office is somewhat organized. I can at least find the bills I can't pay. I had kept an amazing amount of crap in my work office, it was somewhat like the way it works at home, when you have been at the same place for so long, you drag half of what you own from home. With every box that I packed before I left there, I was more stunned at the amount of junk that had accumulated. I had so many pictures in frames that just those took up one whole, huge box. Pictures of my kids, pictures of my nieces, pictures of those I worked with that were taken at various parties over the years...I had a huge bulletin board on the wall, full of cards and letters and sentimental shit. I had one whole wall covered in framed sprint car photos...there were vases from flowers, lots of personal items, blowdryer, hairspray, etc. I kept all of my own financial information there, all of the Ice Cream Store info there, I still had many, many records from the racetrack there, I had all of Bill's personal financial papers there...and all of this had to come home with me. I had to find a place for all of it in a house that is already overflowing with junk...ack!
And speaking of junk in my house, this is a good time to make a huge, HUGE dent in that, as well. We are having a giant garage sale at the end of April, and I have enough crap to fill three garages, all by myself. Janelle and Bill and his family are going to have things to put into it, also. So much of what I have to get rid of is too good to throw away, but no longer wanted by me. Finding a place to donate these kinds of items around here is a real problem, so I will happily sell/give away all of it to anyone interested. Garage sales are very popular here. I have never been able to understand why, but they are. It costs so much to throw things out these days, in a lot of cases I would be happy not to have to pay to have someone haul it off. Note to kids: Get what you want out of my house within the next couple of weeks, after that, it's subject to sale or being pitched.
I also went grocery shopping yesterday---can you believe it? I know, I couldn't either. I am not good at grocery shopping, usually I don't give a thought to price, I just buy. Yesterday, I acted like I was on my last dollar, and I was in slight sticker shock at the price of everything - holy shit! Then, it was late by the time we were finished, and the idea of having to drive all the way home, put it all away, then cook, was more than I could bear. So, we went to McDonald's. MCDONALD'S! They have a dollar menu, who knew? I ate a hamburger. A HAMBURGER. I don't eat meat, and haven't for more than 15 years, and I ate a hamburger. I figured, 89 cents...I am poor now, what the hell. You know what? I liked it. It tasted like my childhood. I wouldn't want to make a steady diet of them, and my stomach was begging me to never do it again, but it was good.
That was my exciting day. I spent the rest of it online, applying/looking for jobs. There are a few out there that I am interested in. Not too many...and it would help if I knew where we were going to live. My resume has been posted on a couple of websites for a few days now, and I have gotten several calls from sales type positions, Farm Bureau, a couple of life insurance outfits, but I am not interested in sales. I want to go to a place everyday, work my scheduled hours, go home. It will be interesting to see how many of those kind of jobs are actually out there, and whether I will actually be able to just WORK somewhere, without wanting to run it, and tell everyone else how to do it. Hah! I am my own worst enemy.
And just so you all know, I am making the financial picture out to be worse than it is, we are not ready for the bread line quite yet. We have adequate money to keep us going for awhile, but the thought of using what we have in savings is a little scary. So don't pass the hat for me quite yet, okay? Maybe in a week or two.
Have a great Friday. Love to you all. :)

Public Service Announcement
Due to lack of interest, this day has been cancelled.
How is that for a lead in? I am tired and bitchy and more than a little fed up...so I think I should broadcast the above message over all the local tv and radio stations. If you are feeling the same way, give me a call, I'll announce it in your area, too.
Since I haven't the energy to explain this morning, suffice it to say, same shit, different day. No new problems, all the same old ones, mostly centering around my workplace.
I feel like Linda Ellerbee,(and I want to use her line)..."and so it goes...".
Later.

I'm Fat Albert
Hey-hey-hey- another day. Monday again, where does the time go? Good heavens, for a second there, I sounded like Fat Albert, and certainly more jovial than I am feeling. It was not a good night, I have H's cold, sleeping was not easy. At one point, I woke myself up-sneezing!
I am not working at the garage today, actually-this is supposed to be my day off. But I have a few things I'm going to get finished, and I really don't feel all that good, so I might as well sit here and work. This is not exactly what I had wanted to do today, however. I haven't been to my mom's house in forever, and I still may try and go but I suspect that when she hears my voice she will not want me there - I sound awful. I wouldn't want anyone to visit me in this shape either. She is not well in the first place, and is having a bone scan today to search for cancer, so she doesn't need the added issue of a cold or whatever the hell I have brewing. I am quite worried about my mother-she has been so sick for so long, but this time it seems like really something bad. Her pain is intolerable, and it cannot be made better with any kind of drug. She is miserably unhappy and uncomfortable every second of the day. She had been for weeks and weeks, but the dr's cannot find any reason, other than the obvious, already known reasons, which wouldn't and never have caused this kind of pain. I feel so bad for her, she cannot think of anything other than herself and her pain, and that is no kind of life. I try to stay as close to her as I can, but she really doesn't want to talk to anyone or see anyone, she just wants to sleep. It really worries me.
D has been here all weekend, she and her boyfriend have broken up again. I really don't know what will happen with the two of them, but my heart hurts for her and that baby, and I am about ready to go kick him squarely in the ass. He has apparently never been taught anything of any importance and I think a good lesson from me just might do the trick. I have just about had it with him and his bullshit, and I only hope her crying and carrying on is due to hormones and such because at some point her "mother" gene has to kick in, doesn't it? I realize that she is left is quite a position but come on - at what point does our pride and sense of "screw you" take over? He will be the loser, certainly not her - she has absolutely everything on the ball, and I wondering where on earth his ball actually is...
And how are things in your world? Would any of you like to trade lives for a week or two like on that horrible reality show? Wouldn't that be a hoot? I could give you a crabby, coughy, snotty sick husband, a daughter with a broken heart, no job and a baby on the way, a very ill mother, an unemployed son that needs a job yesterday, a job that will make you lose your mind and oh yeah, a cold....what could you all bring to me?

To be NORMAL
If I lived in a NORMAL place, I could:
Have dinner out, without driving for two hours first.
Go to a movie, any day of the week.
Find Advil pm at the local store.
Buy a light bulb for my reading lamp, and not replace the whole lamp.
Actually get a local radio station on the radio.
When hearing the weather report on tv, I would hear it for my town, not for the city two hours from here.
I could have Count Chocula, anytime I feel like it.
I could buy coffee on my way to work, even if I leave for work before six am.
Someday.

Thoughts
You
can
say
I'm
pragmatic
emotional
decisive
pig headed and stubborn
and
blunt.
You cannot say I'm
apathetic
wishy-washy
stupid
inconsiderate
or
chickenshit.
Well, I guess you could say it all you want to, but those things wouldn't be right.
Just
a
thought
I
had.

Nothing, nothing at all
So last night was my company Christmas party, as it had been snowed out on the first go around in December. At that time, I was so relieved because I was still in the wheel chair, and did not want to go in that condition. Last evening, I couldn't make it either. I just couldn't. I was weak and wobbly and in pain and there was no way. I sent H and D (who would have been there anyway) in my place, and it worked out okay, but it really bummed me out that I was still unable to attend. So I guess, whatever. Enough said about that.
I need to color my hair, I look like an Indian squaw in those old pictures, the only thing missing is the pipe...
I have an issue with my own checkbook, which is really bad to admit since I am an accountant for lordy's sake, but I am apparently unable to fix it, and for some unknown reason, I have more money than I thought...
I think I might be turning into one of those "cat women". You all know the kind, it doesn't matter what kitty does, it's okay. What's even stranger? H is worse than I am!
I think that there ought to be a day each week that all of America should be able to wear their jammies/sweats to work. Anyone else want to jump on this idea with me?
Sleeping is so far out of the question for me that I do believe I am losing what's left of my mind... perhaps I should sign off and check back with you all later. Have a good Sunday. :)

Drop kick me Jesus, thru the goal post of life..
Today, Away in a Manger. At least it's appropriate for the time of year, and I like that song. It makes me cry, it always has. :)
I'm off for the city today, and I'm happy to be getting out of this house. I don't know how well this brace and I are going to get along with shopping, but I will try. In fact, I am about to drop kick this brace right out the front door. It's scrunches my mouth and makes my face look even worse than it already does... and I don't need help with that. :)
Wednesday already. Christmas is SIX days away? HOLY CRAP! I have alot of wrapping to do, I wish I could tell you how much I hate to wrap presents. I mean---I HATE to wrap gifts. I HATE to wrap them when I am not laid up from surgery. I HATE to wrap them in car. I HATE to wrap them in a bar. I HATE to wrap them on a bus. I HATE to wrap them in the dust. I HATE to wrap them here or there. I HATE to wrap them EVERYWHERE. Okay, so Dr Seuss I'm not...give me a break. :)
I hope your Wednesday is quite the hump day!!

Stoned Shopping?
Happy Saturday to you all---I don't have too much to say today...my life remains the same. I am pretty disgusted with myself, the pain is not getting any better and I am still depending on the pills pretty heavily to make it through the days. I have never been a pain weenie, and this time, it seems that I am. I look in the mirror and cannot escape, my face looks like that of a downs syndrome child, still pretty swollen, my neck of course is too, and the incision looks pretty mean. Last night, I layed down with the neck brace on and slept, I think in spite of it all, I was so exhausted, and I managed about four hours. That's the most since I've had this damned procedure done. Each day, swallowing seems to get harder to do, not easier, but I was told the swelling would last for quite a while, so I assume that it is normal, too. The one thing I find sort of freaky is my eyesight---I no longer need my glasses to see the computer, and you all need to know that I have been nearly blind for a few years. I cannot see the TV at all, with or without them, and that was not that way before, either. I do still need them to read, but I don't think I am seeing double anymore, and that was supposed to go away with this surgery, but I am not really sure of that one yet.
I got the most beautiful flowers yesterday, from my little sis. It was so nice of her to think of me. I was very surprised. My kiddos got me flowers at the hospital, too.
I have to spend some time on the computer today, doing some shopping. I will take a couple of pain pills and try and finish. Look out family--you never know what may be in your Christmas stockings, under the circumstances...teehee
I hope each of you have a great weekend. I just learned that we are to get more snow, and H told me that we are well on our way to that goal---apparently we already have at least half of the eight inches predicted. Just lovely. Have a good day! Later.

What did she say?
I have little to say this morning, well little to say that matters. I am tired, but it is okay. I worked ALL DAY yesterday, and every muscle in my body is screaming this morning. I can feel each one, and it has a life if its own. I didn't mean to stay there all day, but I couldn't leave. There was too much chaos, too much happening, to much going wrong, and cars to sell. And that is why I get paid. So there you go...
More snow, ice, anything else that could fall from the sky (?) predicted for today? Maybe chicken little? No wait a minute...he didn't FALL from the sky...he said the SKY was FALLING. Now I have it straight.....
I love winter...have I mentioned that before? It will not interrupt my plans, I don't care if it does harelip the Governor...I am going to the city and having dinner with my kiddos...okay, so maybe the Governor does not need to get involved....
No, really. I am not on drugs this morning. I have had no pills for the pain as of yet. I am merely thinking about it at this time. :)
Dionne Warwick. "What the world needs now." That was the song du jour this morning. Have a really good Saturday.

Fun facts
Because I am at a loss for things to say this morning that are not a total repeat of things that I have said over and over and over the past few weeks, I thought I would post a few facts about myself that some of you might not know:
I was once "kidnapped" in the middle of the night, by a group from my high school, for winning a spot in the most exclusive choral group in the school. It was all pre-arranged with my mother-they came into my bedroom, pulled me out of bed, and took me out to a pick up truck. I was driven around with about five others, for hours-in the Arizona desert, then taken out for breakfast, then sent to school in that disastrous state. They did, at least have clothes that my mother had sent along. :)
I grew up singing in every choral event possible. I won several awards and trips. It was what I wanted to do with my life, at one time. Man oh man, I could hit the high notes once.
I once climbed a mountain in Phoenix in the daylight and partied up there. Had a hell of a time getting back down, in my not-so-sober state, in the dark. I learned my lesson on that one.
I was a score keeper for a dirt bike race track way back in the 70's. It was fun, and hard--those damned bikes were hard to tell apart from the tower.
Later, I was a manager/promoter for a dirt race track for IMCA race cars for two years. It was the toughest job I ever loved. Freakin' whiners.
I had a ghost in my house in 1982. Someday I will tell you all about her. It was quite...something.
I went to a couple of biker parties in my wilder days. I was never treated with more respect. Seriously.
H and I spent an evening in the company of Kellen Winslow, Sr a few years back. Damn, I was in love.....for those of you that aren't football fans, he played for San Diego and I think still holds the record for the most touchdowns in a game...but I am getting old and not sure on that one. :) I had my picture taken with him, and let me tell you H got his butt right over there and horned in on it! It made me laugh.
I had all three of my children "au natural". Why? I thought it was best that way. I probably would do that differently now. My oldest and my youngest were nearly ten pounds. My middle child weighed close to eight pounds. And yes, it hurt.
I'm going to give up now---kitty's getting in the way, they are very needy this morning! Or maybe it's me?
Have a good weekend!

teehee

So yesterday, while I was sitting on the sofa, and D was behind me at the computer desk, swearing because all she had done was unhook the wireless router and suddenly, no internet---no IPS addresses, they were GONE and she had to call tech support, and H was running up and down the endless stairs doing laundry, and OS was harassing D, as that is his job in this life, I was attempting to sort of "watch" that stupid tv show, cops. And all I heard the cop say was "we have a domestic, a woman called in, her husband threw his hamburger in her face" and I just burst out laughing. It struck me so funny. So, when H ran through with a load of sheets in his arms I made sure to tell him that the NEXT time he threw his meat in my face, I was callin the law. I thought it was funny.

A Tuesday
It is Tuesday, and so far I have done not one thing right. I think I may need to start this day over.
I hope each of you have better days than I am having so far----
I might have moved to the land of the misunderstood in the night, I have never been here before---Toto, take my ass back home!. Generally, I have no trouble getting my point across, perhaps, my wheelchair is affecting my brain? Maybe I am speaking a new language? Whatever the cause, I am going to work on it and get back to you all later.
Have a great day! :)

Can't dance, too fat to fly
It is the week of Thanksgiving, and I have many, many things to be thankful for. I really am trying to look for the positive right now, and my current predicament is making that a rougher job than usual, but not so hard that I don't see the many blessings in my life. I have so many. And frankly, there is ALWAYS someone, that is in far worse shape than we are, and we never have to look very hard to find them. So I DO feel blessed.
Monday again, but a short work week. I do feel for those of you in retail positions, beginning Friday, I'm sure a new kind of hell will begin. While I'm looking forward to the Christmas season, this year, I really don't know what to expect, with my upcoming surgery. I don't know if I will bounce right back and be able to do as usual, or if I will still be down. I did manage to do some of my shopping online this weekend, grown kids really aren't as fun to buy for as little ones are. I miss those days. I look forward to the day that grandkids are in the picture----maybe----and some of that fun will return. ;)
YS managed to hurt his foot quite badly yesterday morning, and he is in ALOT of pain. Nothing broken, but many tendons and ligaments messed up, he has to wait a until Tuesday and go back to the hospital, in the hopes the swelling goes down, to have an MRI, to see if surgery is in order, good heavens, it's always something with that one. I feel really bad for him, he's hurting severely. I have not talked with him since last night, but I imagine he had a very bad night, and working will be a non-issue, although that in itself IS an issue as he cannot miss work, he is still on probation, as he is new. Sigh. I worry myself to death and it does me no good. Yes, I know, don't tell me not to, there is no way I can stop. So....
It was a very quiet, (and boring) weekend, but I did sleep alot. Not that there is much merit in that. My old saying..."I can sleep when I'm dead" is not doing me any good right now. But I feel rested.
There are two kitty's chasing one another up and down the stairs as I write this, and it sounds like the entire house might come crashing down. This old brick place has been standing for 104 years, do you suppose that two cats can cause it's demise?
Have a good day! Out.
PS.. My title is an old saying of mine, and really doesn't mean anything. It was always an answer I used when I didn't know what else to say. I thought I should clear that one up before the questions were asked.

A poor excuse for poetry
Ahhh...another Sunday...
Supposed to be a fun day.
I think I'll make it that way.
The last race of the season,
It has been so pleasin'
Afternoon TV? No more reason.
There is many a great book
waiting in the corner nook
for a glance or a longer look.
Happy Sunday!

Ring Tones
It was time to set new ring tones on my telephone....I was getting quite tired of the old ones. So, for most---not all, I spent a few dollars (geez) and it seemed a few hours (geez) and searched for new music.
For my husband, who really thinks he is:
BAD TO THE BONE- George Thorogood
For my daughter who now really does have to, because she no longer lives here:
CALL ME - Blondie
For my youngest son, who really does seem to be all over the place:
RAMBLING MAN- Waylon Jennings
For my oldest son, who is the epitome of classic rock:
BEAST OF BURDEN- The Rolling Stones
For my youngest' girlfriend, who is just always "fun"
LITTLE DEUCE COUPE- The beach boys
My Mom, because I've hard her sing it, more times than I can count, back in the days when she was young, when she sang with my uncle's band...
ANGEL FLYIN TOO CLOSE TO THE GROUND-Willie Nelson
And for Soul, because I could not find Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind, (which I could not believe, btw)
BOOGIE BACK TO TEXAS-Asleep at the Wheel
