FINALLY, I'm back

Finally, I am back. It has been a long ten days since I was here - so much accomplished and so many changes...all of them good. I have held up surprisingly well, not counting the pain. It has been way off the charts but that was expected by me. What wasn't expected was that I could stay on my feet and keep going this long.

I had five days off of work, and by the time I went back last Thursday, the whole place was finished. I unpacked more than sixty-five boxes and put it all away. ME. I did not lift, I had others to move the boxes from here to there for me, but I did everything else. Being the control and neat freak that I am, there was no way that anyone else could have done it, I wold have just changed it all, anyway. So, I kept my head down and kept at it, taking pill after pill after pill...and the end result is so worth it. This place looks beautiful. I couldn't be happier with it. There are a few things that I want to buy and/or change, but for the most part, it is finished. YEA ME. I will take pics an post them, hopefully today,  :)

As I have backed off on the work now, the pain is becoming nearly unbearable again. It seems that if I stay on the go, on the move, sheer will and determination keeping me upright, I can do it. Once I give, even just a little and sit for a minute, I am attacked. I would rather not have any of it, of course, but I am grateful for the chance to get my house in order,.

The kitties are beginning to come around and enjoy their new home. Cats are so strange, it takes them quite a while to warm up to any change, good or bad. I am happy they are beginning to act like the not at all normal kitties they always have been.

Life here in the suburbs is awesome. I do not miss the noise or confusion of living in the heart of the city. At least not yet. Once I had the internet and TV hooked up, I have not missed anything whatsoever. The first few days of being here without those things was a bit QUIET, though. The silence here can be quite deafening, and that takes some getting used to.

The very best thing about our new place is my awesome bathroom. It is huge, it is laid out perfectly with a huge vanity area, and my bathtub and shower are to die for. In fact, it's so wonderful that I am going to make good use of it now --- a long, hot bath is in order this morning.

Have a beautiful Sunday, friends.  :)

A quickie

I am in the middle of the mess --- the moving mess, I mean. Boxes in every possible place, little room to walk. I am doing the best I can in the midst of it all - and I do fall short most days. I am left with so much yet to do, so little time to do it, but I have always managed, and will somehow manage this time. The actual moving day is Saturday, and my internet will not be up and running until next Tuesday, so if I should not be around, you all know why. Wish me luck --- and strength, and good humor, so that I may not kill the ones that are helping.

Happy Tuesday. I'm gone....     :)                            !

Sneaky Friday

All week I have been screwed up on what day it really is. Come to find out --- this is Friday! It sort of sneaked up on me. Beginning the work week with a day off is something I could really get used to.

I have real plans tonight with a friend. I am hoping I can stay awake and on my feet for them. Good hell, it's rough to get old.

Technical issues with the server on the work computer system is preventing me from closing the month of May. I am unable to submit the financial statement to GM...until at least Monday. It is bugging me that I am having to do my work out of the usual order. Perhaps I should work on being a bit more flexible? I hate the idea of being old, unbending and freakin' crusty.  (There's a good word for you).

I spent my week reading, sewing and watching really tacky television. I love the real housewives of everywhere...I'm sorry...I know...I just can't help it. They are so delightfully awful. Seriously. I am addicted.

Janelle and family are moving tomorrow. I am going to be there to help, even though I am seriously limited on what type of help I can be. I plan on putting the babies room together for them. The boys won't be home during the move and I think it would be good if they came home to their room being normal...I think the move will freak them out a bit. Especially since they won't be there for it, they will be with the other grandma, all weekend, most likely. That makes me think of Rodney Dangerfield...his mother used to send him out to play and then move.  Teeheehee

Happy Friday!

A disaster on wheels

Yesterday, I was a traveling train wreck. No matter what I did, I screwed it up, fouled it up, broke it, or completely annihilated it. I was beyond exhausted, too tired almost to get up to my apartment at the end of the day, (in the elevator) for heavens sake. My back is on fire, right along with my legs. I was unable to accomplish anything last evening, if you don't count drinking a couple of mich ultra's and eating not very good chinese food. Then off to bed for me...

I am having a rough go of living among the boxes. There isn't enough room in this apartment to empty out every space and put it in boxes and then try and maneuver around them. These next three days can't pass quickly enough. The new apartment is even smaller, so I will have to get the boxes unpacked and things put away quickly, before I lose what's left of my mind.

Let's hope that today is better for me. My performance at work yesterday was almost embarrassing, I just couldn't function. I spent all day either screwing it up, or trying to fix what I had already broken.

Leases signed and returned--check.
Deposit on Mark's apartment paid--check.
Furniture for mark paid for and brought to new place--check.
Electric company called and services moved--check.
Direct Tv called and appointment for new services scheduled--check.
Moving company scheduled--check.

What else?

I'm out. :)

Tuesday..Monday, what day is this?

September already. Yes, I know that it has been for eight days now, but it has only been this weekend that it began to feel like the fall. The weather here has been awesome and I love, love, LOVE this time of year. Not that I got out much to feel how great it is..I spent most of this past long weekend inside, packing. And my body (BACK) knows it. Had you asked me yesterday if I was happy and excited to be moving, I would have broke down and cried and said no. However, that was only exhaustion and pain talking..I honestly am very excited to be doing this, but sad, too. Moving is such physical labor, and it has only been Mark and I doing it all, not that it should be anyone else, although I had hoped for a bit of help. But, I know this is my doing, something that I want, and those that I had hoped for help from don't get it. Walking this morning is difficult and leaves me wondering how I am going to make it through it, but I always do. I have most things packed and I hate living with boxes all around, I cannot stand the mess. But I had no choice but to do it on the weekend, there is no way I can work all day and then come home and tackle all of this. I will survive. Just a few more days and I can make sense of my life again..and for that, I am ready. Later friends, I'm out.

asshats, burned dinners and spotty doors.

How about a mixed up bunch of nothing this morning?

I cannot sleep, it's killing me.

Mark has taken the legal stuff about being let go from the dealership by the new owner to an attorney. According to him, there is no way that mr asshat could let him go, not legally, as it was in the contract between old owner and asshat that he could not, not without the written permission of old owner, Bill. Mark went to see him (the lawyer) almost two weeks ago, and the verdict was that our attorney would send a letter to mr asshat, asking for payment now, otherwise a law suit would begin. A lawsuit, that by the way, there is no way he can win, as we turned over the signed agreement between the two buying/selling parties to our attorney. Well, mr asshat got the letter yesterday. Holy crap, Mark certainly ruined mr asshats day. He called Bill and told him "you had better get this handled. I am NOT paying this, I NEVER lose a lawsuit, and if I have to pay, then you will pay it".(Well, which is it mr asshat? You never lose, or Bill's paying it...you cannot have it both ways) If he wasn't being such an ass to my friend and former boss, I would laugh out loud. However, it was not our intention to screw things up for Bill, and while the deal on the dealership has been done to a degree, it does still involve many years of payment from asshat to Bill. I can see a huge legal and financial mess coming out of this. I did ask Bill if he would rather we drop it, and he of course said "no". I'll keep you posted. By now, for us, aside from the money that is owed, which is $6000, it is the principle of the thing. He was such an asshole to Mark, and took out his frustration and pure meanness with/for me on him. It was not right, and at the time it made my blood boil. Mark has never hurt anyone, and would never, ever treat another the way he was treated. I tend to want to shy away from problems of the legal kind and I do NOT want this to turn into a huge cluster**** of a mess.

We need to sell our house in podunk so badly. I keep hoping that will happen with just a sign out front, but realistically, I know better. It is not ready to be listed with a realtor, but soon, it will be.

Damn, I am tired today.

CrazyDog goes to see the vet today, although the original problem that we made the appointment for in now better. Mark is taking her with him this morning, so that means another ride in the car for two hours. I hope she does as well this time as she did when we moved, I got her Dramamine for traveling, all of life she has been carsick, but the pills worked wonderfully on moving day. If she should be sick all over Mark's car, he is not going to be happy. We try so hard with that dog, but I'm afraid our nerves and patience are wearing a little thin. I looked up the life expectancy for her breed, and it's 8-12. She turned 13 last week. Borrowed time? I do not want her to leave us, I just want her to calm down and enjoy her "golden years". Do dogs have those?

I am starving. A common problem recently. It seems I have not cooked a decent meal in weeks, and I fully intend to try to today. I have cooked something a total of twice since we moved here, and I must admit, I am having problems getting used to this new kitchen. I have never loved electric stoves, and as usual, I am burning everything. I cannot get the heat right - not in the oven or on the cook top. This is one of those smooth, black-glass covered ranges...and I just suck at using it. Practice, I suppose.

I have a question for all of you uber-smart friends of mine - do any of you know how to clean clear, glass shower doors? Is there a product made specifically for that? I have not had the opportunity to look for one yet, but cleaning, or keeping them clean is certainly a pain in the rear. I have used the daily shower cleaner, but that does a terrible job. I have cleaned them with Windex, and they look okay until it's used again. I am not going to clean both shower doors every day. I know I am just not doing something right, and I know you guys will know what to use.

Holy crap, this is boring. I am boring even ME. I think I will go do something exciting, like find some breakfast. Happy Saturday, everyone. :)

Trivial Tuesday

Today is the first day of the rest of my life. Or so I have heard. And the rest of my life does not include the job that I just recently worked so hard to get. I could not do it, I could not take it, and I made yesterday my last day. I do not regret it in the least, but I am worried about finances, so I have to get my rear end in gear and find another, pronto. When I left there yesterday, I felt like a million pound weight had been lifted off of me, and although I know I have to do something quickly about a job, but that one was NOT the right one for me. I am not exactly proud of just leaving that way, yes---my momma did learn me better than that, but I felt like such a fraud, letting everyone there believe that I was going to be there long term. Aside from that, by the time I returned yesterday, my whole schedule had been re-done by the DM, and so much for time off for me this week, we are too short on employees, and I was having to loan mine to other centers. I knew that I could not work those hours again this week, so much for the rah-rah story about how I didn't need to schedule myself a million hours a week. Oh well, live and learn, right?

The apartment is really shaping up, and I have spent more than enough money to make it that way, thank heaven for credit cards...hopefully today I will be able to post a few pics, but probably not until I can get the internet problems straight----this is supposed to be a wireless community, and it is, if you want to do all of your computer work on the balcony. So, I am attempting to hard wire the main computer and then run the other two off of the router, but so far that isn't working, and I am so computer stupid that I don't know if I will be able to manage it. Janelle is/was supposed to help me with it, but I feel I have worn out my welcome in that department, as she is very cross and short with me about it. My biggest problem is that I have no printer that I can hook up to this laptop, the two we have are not compatible, and I need to print things for the ice cream store and other-business wise, so I don't know where that leaves me. This morning, I had to re-write my resume, as I had no way to send it from my main computer to this one, and I needed to email it out. So, enough of my problems...

I am in pain and barely able to walk this morning. I have done way too much, but I had to. It will be over soon, I hope. At least until the weekend, when we have to go back to the old house and finish it up, it is filthy and needs cleaned out of things that I did not want to bring here. I think my sister (Trav) is coming to visit on Sunday, and she will be here for a few days---at least I really hope so. (!!!!)

I will make it today to see each of you, heaven knows I have some time now. However, looking for a job is often the hardest job we can have. And here I am, doing it again. Save me! Have a great Tuesday! And here are a couple of shots of the apartment, as bare as it is..and a few other things, including the sunrise off of my balcony----

Life hasn't been the same since that house fell on my sister...

This has been an exhausting day - and I have made little progress. But, I have made some and under my physical circumstances, that's a miracle. But now, I am finished for the day. I cannot do anymore, and once again all of the responsibility falls onto Mark. And my kids, tomorrow.

I did take a little while today and went and visited Richard in the hospital. He looked surprisingly good, but is still in alot of pain. Holy crap, his incision is huge and it looks really, really bad. His attitude is wonderful and he is quite the trooper, more worried about my mom than himself.

The poor kitties and CrazyDog are all upset and nervous...the kitties really should know the moving drill by now, heaven knows they have moved many times when they belonged to Janelle. CrazyDog however, is not sure what is going on, this is the only place she has ever known. We moved into this house when she was just a puppy, and apartment living is going to be quite an adjustment, for her, and for us. I can see it now, walking her in the middle of the night, that will be quite fun...

I hope you all have had a wonderful day. Have a great weekend. :)
