If I confer with our furry friends, man to animal...

Last evening was the scheduled date for the annual Christmas party for the dealership where I work. It really is always a nice event, we always go to the same place these past few years, a restaurant - a steak house, that has a nice selection of steak, sea food, chicken...and all of the usual trimmings. They have a nice bar for the smokers, as there is no smoking in the private room where we have dinner. It accommodates everyone nicely, no one stands in the cold for their habits. It is order what you what, as much as you want, totally open bar, no restrictions. The owner is really good that way---when he does something, he does it right. Of course, he would die if he knew what it cost, but he never asks, and I never offer that information. But last night, for the first time in the history of this company, it had to be cancelled due to bad weather. So, we will have to reschedule for after the holidays. It didn't completely break my heart, I was trying to decide how I was going to go, with the weather, my own personal circumstances, and the freakin' pain that I was in all day yesterday. I was seriously considering not going, and while I know that the owner would have understood, obviously, it also would have presented few problems for him. So, the issue was taken out of my hands. As last evening wore on, I was quite happy I was not there, as I realized I would have been in quite a pickle had I been out in public. I am quite used to my legs not working, and I have managed to overcome that problem as best as possible. These past few days, my right arm has decided that using it is worth a price and that is getting to be sort of awkward. Even my left arm would be easier to work around, as I am right handed. Typing is manageable for awhile, as I can keep it close to my body, but anything that requires extending it and I could be in trouble. That sort of leaves writing, eating, drinking (oh no!), and many other things out there in the cold...

So anyway, we had quite an ice storm yesterday. If any of you know me at all, you know how much I hate winter. I don't like cold, snow or especially ice. When I say that, I am speaking about having to work, and get out in it every day. It makes everything harder. Life is harder in the winter...just putting the damned dog out becomes an issue in the winter. Yesterday, I just sat on that couch and listened to it, it wasn't so bad. Of course, I had no where to go, nothing to do. Maybe when I am older and retired, I won't hate it so much.

CrazyDog and Kitty #1 have decided that they are going to feud. Keep in mind that they have now lived together since May. I mean, real fighting, growling, screaming, hair raising...loud fighting. I don't like it---and don't really know what to do about it. Kitty #1 still does not know that he has no claws. Apparently CrazyDog hasn't figured that out either, because the cat will smack the hell out of the dog and the dog will run. The dog is a 40 pound chow! But later, when the cat is not expecting it, the dog will come back for more...and she will not INTEND to hurt the cat or she would have killed him by now, she has teeth that are bigger than the cats head. But it IS getting ugly. Plus, I don't call her CrazyDog for nothing. I never know what to expect from her....it's always something. The funny thing is...she has no problem what-so-ever with the other kitty. None. Who knows? I wish I really could "talk to the animals". Anyone out there Dr. Doolittle? Have a good Sunday. :)

I concur.....winter sucks!

try squirting the fighting little pair with water when they do that.

my cats have been living together for years and sometimes they still like to torment the smallest one.

Usually , throwing whatever is handy ...distracts them and makes them move on. (a pen, a barrette, " lol

Hope today is a good one for you!:)

well surprise---
now even oldy beats me here. i must really be getting lazy these days.

you know how i feel about your pain and circumstances... but i have to say that i am happy to hear that you were able to stay home yesterday and feel no guilt for it.

as far as the "drinking problem".. now THAT sucks!!!! i'd be gettin me some straws and be drinkin south-paw-style. or maybe a damn beer bong!! LOL

i know you aren't looking forward to the surgery, but man, i am praying soooo hard that it holds--- if nothing else... the key to removing this pain. i think anybody can live and deal with whatever comes their way--- but pain... the pain that you live with--- is just cruel. it has got to get better for you...and we all are praying that soon it will.

on a lighter note--- ya know... :dr. Dooliittle IS my nickname around here when it comes to the animals... if i leave a room they are all four trailing behind me. if i go to my room and close the door---i regret it , because within moments--i'm up. letting their whiney little butts in, as they scratch the door, meow, and whine.
like kids.

anyhow--- i have yacked enough here... i shall go now.

hope you have a good day.

I have been hearing from my family about that nasty weather up there. Real winter has set in now for sure. I don't envy you one bit, and I'm so glad you didn't have to try to go out in it, or stay home and miss the party. Let's hope the date you rescheduled for works out better 'cuz it sounds like fun. Not being able to use your right hand much really does suck! I so wish you didn't have to go thru this. Yes, get a straw for drinking and teach the cats to type! :-) Oldy is right about the squirting water. I am betting money the cat instigated this little dispute (they are sneaky like that) and a good spray of water every time they start up will soon make it not such a fun game for them. If it isn't the kids acting up, it's the animals, life is never dull for a moment, is it?! Love you Jamie, keep warm!

Well.........I have it on good authority that the cat made a very rude remark about the size of crazy dog's hips. As you know, that is just about the ultimate no-no in any woman's life. However, on closer interrogation, Crazy dog did admit pointing and laughing at the size of the cat's family jewels, which seem to be non-existent. Sounds like apologies need to made on both sides. If that doesn't work, the spray bottle is an excellent alternative. I used to use a squirt gun...(better accuracy). Muwhahahahaha. Have a song-filled Sunday. Turn up those Christmas Carols and sing away. ((hugs))

I can only imagine Maggie with cats. I bet that would be one hell of a fight. Hope you're feeling better today, Jamie.

We had some of that ice storm as well. Wasn't it a doozy? Just walking out to the end of my driveway to get the WSJ was an adventure.

And, yes...I now know the dilemma of what to do with the puppy in this weather. My "dog whisperer" book tells me to walk him to the door to let him see WHY he can't go out. I tried that and he seemed confused. What the hell was my problem? Was a woman or a mouse? Socks seemed to be telling me to have a little sense of adventure and just put on my ice skates.

I hate the winter too, J...and I hope it all goes well for you today.

Heard about the bad weather there.
Hope you stay warm and well and painfree..

PS: taking about pain, please don't overdose on those painkillers, unless you've already added me in your will! Kidding! On a serious note, be careful with that stuff.

Oldy--Good Lord, I hate that name of yours, It doesn't fit at ALL--but anyway, I think you are right, the water thing does seem to work. Thanks for reminding me of something that I used to know--years and years ago! :)

Soul, I have this mental image of you, and all four of your critters behind you, kind of like the pied piper...you don't play the flute, do you? teehee

yankee--I don't know what the deal is with cats having it over dogs, some dogs just aren't very smart, are they?

Summer, I heard the roads got better as the day wore on, I didn't get out in it all weekend. Aren't you glad you live where you can see the beautiful blue ridge mountains?

Jos, somehow I think you are right about the cat being the instigator, he seems a little sheepish, and yet hateful toward the dog, the hateful part only behind her back, of course...and man when the dog is inside and awake, he hides now!

Jamie said...

Val--your comment had me laughing out loud, something that doesn't happen much...

and you just might be right!

Andrew-thanks for stopping by--Maggie might surprise you with cats, but I don't suggest it really, unless you want a contstant three ring circus at your place!

Maria, I was wondering how it was going with Socks---

I know once they get a little older, they WON'T go out in that kind of weather, even if their bladders are about to burst...so did you put your skates on and go?
Isn't winter in the midwest with a dog just pure f***in joy? teehee

Mother Hen, don't worry about me and the pain killers, my tolerance is so low I called the dr and asked for a lower dose, i can't take the normal dosage stuff. I never have been able to handle it. :)
