Blizzard 2009

They weren't kidding. Just so you all know, when the national weather service says "a storm of epic proportions", you probably ought to believe. It has been an interesting 24 hours. I am wondering if things will be any better in the next 24. I would have pics to show you, I was out in it after all, walking to Target next door. However, had my life depended on it, I could not have stopped to take any. First of all, I couldn't see, the wind was that bad. Second of all, I got brain freeze. Seriously---it felt like I had too much ice cream, too quickly. And it hurt like a you-know-what. I walked through a snow-drift as tall as my waist, that wasn't the smartest move I have ever made, just sayin'. So...here is a pic of all I can give you - my balcony. Which is now a snow bowl. Literally...

Happy Hump day.

(sorry these were taken through the door and screen---I can't open them, they are frozen shut.)

Wow, we got more rain than snow, but enough of a mess to close schools, etc.

You were brave to walk through the drifts in such cold weather!

Oh, yeah. Right there with you, my friend. But you know that. My birdbath is completely buried in snow in the back yard. We have a wall of snow from our garage to the street. And school is canceled again tomorrow but I have to figure out some way to get to work. Or rather, Bing will have to drive me to work since my car is undriveable and our mechanic has his answering machine on, meaning that he is probably trapped, just like we are, at home.

My sister lives over in Omaha. It looks pretty much the same there too. Luckily it all stayed north of me. It was really cold and windy, but no snow. ;-)

I am so proud to be part of this blizzard! Living in Arizona doesn't give me much opportunity for this sort of thing. I happened to be in the mountains when it came through here. I was stranded for two days. Saw snow for the first time in 25 years or so........

Hope you dig out soon sweetie! Til then, hunker down and do something decadent :)

Pretty to look at from the inside but darned cold on the outside. You are indeed brave walking thru a drift that high. Fix some hot chocolate, tea, something soothing and enjoy the view.

Good grief. I remember snow like that when I worked in the ski resort. We quite often had to dig our way out of our rooms.

Stay nice and warm inside Jamie, not that you probably have a choice anyway.

Geez now that's what you call snow! I can't believe we are actually leaving the UK on Saturday to come to New York to experience the snow ourselves!

Keep warm!

I had no idea. I haven't been reading the papers or watching TV. I heard something about a monster storm, but didn't pay any attention to it. We got a lot of rain. Wow! I'm amazed you went out in in an your balcony does look like a snow bowl. Updates, please.

Holy cow! We don't get anything like that in the South. We get an inch and the kids run around going, "It's a WINTER WONDERLAND!"

Stay safe and warm!

Holy crap! How did I miss this post?

I don't know how anyone can stand to live in the midwest:)

Guess I better go find some weather channel to watch.

Happy Friday!
