Monday Morning Recap

With the ring of an alarm, the sleepy searching in the dark to shut the noise down...and the weekend is officially over, a new week begins. Monday. MONDAY. They aren't as dreadful as they felt in my twenties and thirties, but are still not exactly what I call fun. This Monday however, will be short, as I am only working half a day...then I can do as I want. The idea was to get some errands and running around done this afternoon, things that have to be done during business hours, but at this early hour, taking the afternoon and lounging in front of my television sounds like a much better idea. It remains to be seen what I actually end up doing with my free afternoon.
It has been a good, if short weekend. I really didn't go anywhere or do anything of any importance, unless you count grocery shopping important, but it was fun. I had a few people over for nachos and beer and football for my youngest son's birthday yesterday, but the football part of the equation didn't seem to be too interesting to many, as most of the youngest generation ate, drank a couple and then promptly fell asleep in front of the tv. Too much party from the night before, I suspect. You know, I honestly don't care what they do, I want my kids and my friends to be comfortable enough to come here and do what they want, how they want. Coming home to mom's is just coming home...what I have is theirs, don't ask before you take, just get it yourself, and be happy. In fact, at one point I woke the sleeping group and told them to either move over or go up to the bed so others could sit down. I did take a couple of pics of the sleeping beauties--Happy Birthday---Good heavens....

The third pic as you can see, is my Brodie, who is sick with an ear infection, but still amazingly happy. He thought the party was pretty fun, and was a joy to be around.

I ordered a Baskin Robbins Ice Cream cake, oh buddy -- it was something. I promptly sent it home with the birthday boy, as it was way too good to keep around. :) Everyone was on their way back home by four-thirty and I had a few wonderful hours to myself, I cleaned up the party mess, poured myself a beer and sat down in front of my computer to download some music.

I learned a couple of things about myself and my kids this weekend. It's funny, I never thought I would still be learning at this stage of the game, but I am making progress with them, and with me. I like it.

Happy Monday friends.

How funny that everyone fell asleep. It shows how comfortable they are at your house. I like that.

Enjoy your day, no matter what you choose to do. It's yours!

Wow...I really love what you've done with the place!!! Lavender skies and all. Yep, kid....we are constantly learning. Now, I'm learning from my grandkids! Lucky me, I have today off because its a holiday. Its cold out (38) and gloomy....perfect day to snuggle in with my good book. Hope your day goes well. Hugs...xo, Charlotte

I love that my children are comfortable enough to come to my house and make it their own. There is only one rule and that is respect. I was always the house where their friends congregated. I loved it.

Enjoy your half day to do as you please. I LOVE those days!

I say just take it easy on your half day off. If anyone asks if you got anything done just tell them "No, it's Columbus Day so nothing is open." LOL ;-)

that's the kind of mom I have always been and always wanted to be. My boys would bring their friends home and I would cook and tell them to just help themselves. My new husband doesn't really believe in that type of thing. I mean ... well, I won't get in to it.

You are just such a great mom!!!!
