EOY BLUES

And so it begins. The annual hell that is my January. Closing the year and the books on 2010, beginning the new year. The w2's and all that goes with it. 401k tests and paperwork. EOY blues. Yep, that's me.

It has been a very quiet and wonderful weekend. I was at the gym both days, and spent time reading, watching movies, taking down and putting away all the Christmas decorations. I spent some good time with my oldest and husband and two awesome grandsons. I spent some time with Mark and some time alone. I am ready for the hell at my job. In fact, it really isn't that bad. I have done it so many years now, it's just work. If I spend prior time cleaning things up, it goes pretty easily. And I have. Now, I am just ready to get it behind me.

The winter weather is about to kill me. It certainly puts a damper on my life, my lifestyle. I stay in and wait for the days when I can get out again. The cold goes right through me, no matter how much I wear. I have all the layers that I need. I just can't get/stay warm. I think this is the only downside to losing the weight I have the past year. Fat does keep one hot. :)

I am going to Florida next month, I think. I have a need to see my bestest buddy, and he is nearly begging me to visit. Well actually, he is begging me to move but I have no desire to do that. I love to visit, but I am just not crazy about the state of Florida. Yep, it's beautiful. But not really for me. If I were to ever move, it would be to the mountains. When I didn't have to get out and work every day, when I could stay in and gaze at the beauty during the cold months. Yes, that is more my style. So, Iowa it is, I guess, for now.

I am the proud, new owner of a Kindle, since my kids got one for me for Christmas, and I have to say I LOVE IT. I didn't think I could get used to it, and I thought I would miss the feel and smell of a book, but this thing is awesome. And the best part? I CAN SEE IT. No more twenty-five or thirty dollar large print books for me. Thank you guys, it's so awesome!

I also bought a Nu-Wave oven with my Kohls cash, right after Christmas. (It was a present Dave, from meeee to meeee.) It too, is fantastic. It cooks just the way I like, no fat, all flavor, and will save me a ton of money in deli-chickens. I bought a new coffee maker-the Hamilton Beach stay or go, and a new percolator. Yep, that's right. That thing is wonderful, too. It makes the best coffee. It's electric, just plug 'er in and listen to it perk. And you can wash the inside. That is why I wanted new coffee stuff...the damned awful water here was growing mold inside the old Mr Coffee. Ugh.

And so with all of that, I am going to get my butt out of this chair and start being productive for this day. I am in a good amount of pain this morning, and it's time for the drugs. Have the happiest Monday you can. Later. :)

EOY Blues! Ouch, EOY is the pits. It surely does feel good when it is over, though. I know you'll make short work of it and be well on your way into 2011.

Florida is nice for vacation. Glad to hear that you're making the trip.

Take care, my friend.

I am thankful I don't have to do any EOY stuff. Bleck. Used to do it tho so I understand your pain :-)

You could not pay me to live in Florida. Beautiful, warm, yes, but weather...no way jose!

I gave my daughter a Kindle for her birthday and she loves it.

I still have Christmas cash to spend. I am thinking jewelry and scarves to dress up my work attire. Those god awful, boring, ugly uniforms we have to wear.

Enjoy your day! I have been up since 3 and been pretty productive. Hopefully it stays that way.

If you are going to dirve to Florida and you come close to Atlanta let me know and I'll meet you for a cup of coffee or feeds or something.

I'm so glad to hear you're going on vacation! And to sunny Florida no less! I have been there once....in June. It was unbearable hot...bad time to go. As far as beauty...my own state, especially up north is absolutely gorgeous...just wish we had warmer weather year round. I have a Kindle too and didn't think I'd like it because I sooooo love the smell and feel of a book...but its great to throw in your purse and take along so amuse yourself in waiting rooms. Mine is not the expensive one...it just has wireless, which I haven't been able to connect to. I download my books from my computer using USB...they've all been free ones and very good so far. As for EOY....at least it makes the days go fast when you're busy every second....right? God Bless, dear friend.

I hope your work appreciates a seasoned EOY'r. Like you said, you prepare for it. You're organized.

I know I'd hate the Iowa cold. I hate the MD cold, which is nothing like yours. Florida winters can be cool. I will hope for a warm vacation for you.

I got a Kindle as a gift, but I gave it back. Bad me, especially since it was from Rob! I just don't think I want it, though I loved receiving it, if that makes any sense. The gifts you bought for yourself sound great. I bought kitchen speakers for my iPhone.

I hope the drugs took the edge off the pain today. Did they?

I love the sense of direction in this post Jamie... moving forward, getting thru it, a good Christmas, plans for vacation, a new Kindle... all good stuff! We can always finds ways to feel blessed if we look hard enough, can't we? Now if I could just get my daughter on that thought track! I hope your pain was manageable today, I pray for you every day. EOY fun at our office too, but we're as ready as we'll ever be, so lets git er done! Love you!

Happy New Year to you! Here is to a pain free, wonderful year for you, for all of us!!

I'm glad you bought yourself some gifts, what fun! My sister wants a Kindle so bad but she is a bathtub reader. She has fallen asleep many times only to be awakened by the sound of her book falling in the water. No Kindles for her...lol!

Hope your EOY is easy and breezy!
