It's ALL Fred's fault

You know, all my life, people--dr's--relatives--friends have told me to take vitamins. "You don't eat enough", "you don't take care of yourself", "no---pretzels and beer aren't a food group". And over the years, I would buy a bottle of some kind of multi-vitamin and begin a new routine. For about a week. They always made my stomach feel funny, I would forget to take them, or they would make be burp some nasty taste. Then I would give up on them. Recently, I read that children's vitamins - the chewable kind - are as effective for adults if you take two. I asked my doc and she said, yes...it works just fine. So, I began an affair with old flat-footed-Fred Flintstone. Two each morning, and I would be miraculously converted into the picture of health. I figured within two weeks I would have shiny new hair and a Vicki's secret body...

What did I get? Effing Strep Throat. Can you believe that sh*t? Never in my adult life have I had strep. Never. Fred---darlin'? You let me down. Yabba dabba fricken' doo.
Happy Saturday.

You should see all the vitamins I bought last weekend. Have I started taking them yet?

Feel better.

I have vitamin bottles with cobwebs on them. Sorry about the strep, it sucks when it hurts to swallow. But a good diet.

I feel the same way about vitamins. Bless your heart.

All I can recommend going into the season of bugs is wash, wash, wash, your hands and keep sanitizer on your work station. Even when you don't think you need to, sanitize those hands. Oh, and keep your hands away from your face. :-)

You work with the public, work out at the gym, go grocery shopping, all germobiles. Did you know shopping card handles are the worst for germs??

Take care my dear and I hope you get better soon.

Blessings Leann

I carry a small bottle of hand cleaner that kills germs in my purse and I do use it. Especially after grocery shopping as my hands feel horribly dirty then. I used to take Centrum Silver but had to stop as my eye doctor put me on huge doses of Vitamin A and if I continued to take a multi-vitamin, I would OD on it. (you know its never easy) So I take separate vitamins....A, C, D and Omega 3. I take them right along with my prescription meds in the morning so I don't forget. I don't get many colds but when you work with the public and someone is coughing and hacking in your face...you may as well figure you're gonna get it. My daughter's doctor told her that the flu is going to be nearly epidemic this year and to keep hands clean. They are recommending washing hands for at least 45 seconds now instead of the usual 30. The schools ask the parents to contribute Antiseptic wipes for the class room and they have but when my daughter found out they use ONE wipe for the 6 long tables shared by the students, she now has my granddaughter using her own wipes to wipe down her own area. Unfortunately, the germs are getting stronger and stronger. Get well soon toots. xo

Ahh man, and I just read that childrens vitamins would be be good for adults too so I was going to buy some. I know I can chew up fred and barney but those huge ones that are for adults are all but impossible for me to swallow so I don't take any. :(

Val, you mentioned that you were taking large doses of Vitamin A as per your eye doctor. I was just wondering if it is straight Vitamin A or vitamin A palmitate. Not meaning to be nosey, just wondering because my eye doc told me to take huge doses of the second one and I am sort of afraid to take it. Sorry to hack your comments Jamie!

I hate vitamin pills - I'd rather just eat vegetables ;)

Ouch that sounds great. So you take something to make you healthy, and you get sick? Ain't that life!
