Time!

Thanksgiving day, 2009. How can that be possible? Do you remember way back, years and years ago, when it was impossible to understand how we could ever say the two-thousands? When it seem impossible to say the year without "nineteen" in front of it? Now, we have all become accustomed to saying the year as "Oh six, Oh seven, Oh nine"...what happens in just a few weeks? We cannot say "oh ten". Hmmm...

This year, I am thankful for the fact that time marches on. I am thankful that I have learned that time truly does heal. Seriously. Time makes those things that feel that they will break us seem over-blown and so much less tragic. Time makes the edges of the bad fuzzy. It may never take it all away, but time is our friend. For that I am thankful. I am thankful that I have had the time to learn this lesson. I am thankful that I know, even in the middle of the messes described, that in time, it will feel better. That has been a huge lesson for me in my life, and one that I now use often. Time marches on. Thank God for that. However, the time Gods could maybe slow it all down a bit. It seems that I blink and another year has gone by. I know that all of our parents told us this would happen, but I have to say, it's not just our age that makes time fly. Nope. It is also the state of our world, the fast pace of everything, the overkill, over stimulation in everything. It is partly due to all of us trying like hell to keep up with it all. And while I am happy to live in the most exciting time in the history of this country, it could well -- slow down-- just a little. Just sayin'.

I am excited for this day. All of the my kids will be here, ALL OF THEM. I am happy to have the opportunity to bring us all together this year. As time flies by, I know that the chance of that continuing to happen each year grows slimmer. They each have their own lives to live and some years that may not allow for them to be here, with me. So I am very grateful to have them all together. They will all arrive late in the day, after their first Thanksgiving dinners elsewhere. They will already be full and tired, and that's okay. I will cook a huge meal that we will all eat a little of, and then I will send most of it home with them. That's fine by me. I am just happy to have them.

I wish each of you the very best of Thanksgiving days, today. I wish that each of you will take the time to enjoy what you doing, eating, seeing, and who you are doing it with. Even though time really is our friend, lets take a little of it on this Thanksgiving holiday and slow down. Just for this day. Happy Thanksgiving. :)

I am grateful everytime I get to see my kids and grandkids. Time goes by much too quickly anymore. I too was warned by my parents it would happen and could not imagine it. I would like to have control of the time dial in my life. Move it back and forward at will :-)

You are correct in that time heals all. It blurs the edges where necessary, sharpens them in the same way.

I hope you were able to enjoy the day at your own pace and tucked it all into your memory for years to come.
