Pack up the babies and grab the old ladies...

Trip the light fantastic...that IS a great saying, and I too wonder where it came from. I always assumed it related to dancing but I don't know why I think that. Dancing...I LOVE to dance. I haven't been out dancing in years. Literally years. H doesn't dance...and that makes for a problem. When I was divorced I swore that if I would marry again, it would be to someone that loved dancing as much as I. How's that working out for me? teehee...The best laid plans...

Yes, we went out last night and let off a little steam, or tried to anyway. It didn't exactly go according to plan, but then when do things ever go according to plan? The night pretty much sucked. And that's all I have to say about that. Other than, I have had about one hour's sleep, and the reason is not pain or insomnia due to pain. I have just about had it with everything and everybody in my life. Ya know, sometimes--I really do have good intentions. Actually, I always have good intentions. But rarely is that recognized and I'm getting fed up. Keep smiling Jamie, keep smiling, otherwise---you may just fall apart. :)

I believe I am shrinking. I seem to be about an inch, maybe more - shorter than I used to be. I can only assume that has to do with my age (does 47 really make you shorter?) and my recent surgery? I'm really serious here-and I think it's odd.

I have no more good news to spread this morning. I hope your day is wonderful. Later.

I was so hoping that your night out would be a fun one. Shrinking? Yes it happens but it seems a little early for you. Maybe your surgery took a inch? Or you've been jumping out of airplanes or riding horses.

Summer, I like your reasons for shrinking way better---although I haven't been horse back riding or jumping out of planes. :)

soul--stop being sorry, its all oaky, I didn't say I wasn't liking the shrinking part, I just said it was odd. Actually, I always wanted to be short. Perhaps one day I might! :)

Hi Jamie
Well thanks to Mary from Marys Pathway I can tell you where Tripping the light fantastic came from. Mary emailed me today and this is what she said:

The phrase comes from a song written in 1894 by Charles B. Lawler and was included in a musical comedy “The Sidewalks of New York.”

The play was later made into a movie.

The relevant bit goes:

Boys and Girls together,

Me and Mamie O’Rourke,

Tripped the light fantastic

On the sidewalks of New York.

It refers to light and fanciful dancing. I believe Lawler borrowed the phrase from Milton, but I’m not certain about that.

There you go.

I'm very sorry to hear that you are so fed up and that your night out didn't live up to anything. Even people without pain have days like that so I can't even imagine what it's like for you.

I hope the weekend improves for you.

well, I think that you and I need to go out dancing together. I LOVE to dance, but I;m not sure I remember how...it's been that long. Husband doesn't like to go out, cuz "there's drunks out there"....ya, and I wanna be one of them! ;)

Sorry the night out was a bust. Make plans with Soul for a real blast. The two of you can make it happen. Start planning now.

Yep, kid, you do shrink. I've lost a hair over an inch. Couldn't be in weight...nooooooo....it has to be in height where I was already short to begin with. Blech...so now some 6th graders are as tall as I am. You know the average kitchen is made for a person who is 5'6? Rats! We once rented a house where the man had custom-built the kitchen for his VERY short wife (4'9) and I absolutely LOVED it. LOL
Have a great day...its nice and sunny here but only 34.

So how tall are you now? And did I tell you I love your blog's blue look? Of course I'm a little biased. =)

Hope you're having a good weekend!

I hope your day got better! Maybe call a friend you hasn't irritated you in awhile and have her meet you at the mall where you can buy some new heels?

Dang, I should have thought of asking the surgeon to use a big piece of bone in the fusion so I'd gain some height!
