Coffee black..cigarette..start this day like all the rest

It was a good weekend, I am rested up. Today is the thirteen hour marathon, it is impossible to be rested up "enough" for one of those, but i am in pretty good shape for the shape i am in...

The weather here is unbelievably awful, high high humidity, temps in the mid 90's, makes life outside pretty unbearable....and rain in the forecast. Why do I tell you all of this? Tonight is a big race, in Oskaloosa Iowa, just a few minutes from Knoxville Iowa....but the race I am talking about is the FRONT ROW CHALLENGE. It is the baby of Owner, my boss, he is half of McTwo promotions, the promoters. It is a HUGE sprint car race, that ties in with the Knoxville Nationals, that start on Wednesday of this week. It draws ALL of the big names in racing, and it is ONE HUGE PARTY. And it is supposed to rain. I am praying that the rain holds off until Owner's two races are over---tonight and tomorrow night---or life is going to be a bitch. This needs to be a successful race week for him----and it is so much simpler if the weather cooperates. So I will be doing my non-rain dance. All day. And no, I don't go to these affairs anymore. No one loves racing more than me, but I have gotten too old and too not well to be up at a race, hot-dirty conditions-getting home just before the sun comes up---and then having to get to work. Owner is not in at all, all week long, (understandably), so it is up to me. And I no longer go. But Kasey Kahne always runs the Front row challenge, and Tony Stewart, and all of the Outlaw sprint racers are there...and it makes me sad to miss it every year.....So, getting to go to these races when I no longer work for him would be one of the only perks that I would have, but a perk nonetheless. And I am sorry for talking racing here, I know that NONE of my readers care about it, even a little, but it IS a huge part of me....

So, I will be off to my day. It will be miserably hot, and probably rather difficult. Keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't rain---okay? Over and Out.

Are you kidding? I just love Tony Stewart. I think my boyfriend loves him more than me. You should see some of the Tony Stewart knick knacks we have. He rocks!

it's not that i don't care about racing. i just don't like the noise etc. it really gets to me. but i think it's cool that you like it. everyone needs a passion. right? i do wish you could go and enjoy it like you used to...but i know what you mean about how you r body just reacts differently now. mine is the same. i used to fish 8 hours and not flinch...now i fish one hour and think i'll die...still i push myself to the point of passing out sometimes. bad me.
anyhow...i hoe you have a feel good happy day. don't work too hard. ya right huh.
be good to yourself. don't overdo it. k

Ok Jamie, I will be doing the "no rain" dance for you down here too. It does sound like a really cool event and for sure you want things to go right so the boss will be happy! Have you ever noticed that it only rains or threatens to rain on special times like this. Never on boring work days when no one gives a shit? The same happens here. I think the rainmakers have a warped sense of humor. Actually, the race does sound like fun and I hope in future years you will get to attend, just as a spectator, with no obligations.

Glad you were able to feel a little more rested to face your long Monday, will be praying you thru, let's get this week over with!!

if it's any consolation, I will be hot and sticky too...90's today with high high humidity.

Abbagirl, I am a HUGE tony fan, too. But he is a bit of an ass when he is here....kind of a snot. Kasey Kahne is a doll----he will stand a sign autographs until the last person has been through the line. We (the dealership) generally loan them vehicles to drive for the week-Kasey's is always perfect when it comes back, Tony's is usually trashed....

i love to hear you're feeling better, however much it may be. i'm not a huge race fan - went to daytona 500 once and saw dale crash - coulda done without that one - but any event is a pretty good time when it's live. i guess it sounds like i'm just there for the party which would be pretty accurate. like soul says, everyone needs their passion;)
i hope the day's going by faster than you thought...if not just take comfort in friday being right around the corner.
hope the rain holds off!

Sounds stressful. I will definately be crossing my fingers that the rains hold at bay and that you get through it all with a fairly pleasant time.

Take Care!

Oh, dear. Here in Nebraska, Liv and her bff, Constance went outside and did an Indian rain dance this morning and wouldn't you know, it rained BUCKETS for nearly two hours.

I am crossing my fingers that it didn't come your way....

In the meantime, I am considering hiring out Liv as a raindancer since she she obviously has the touch. Good hell, she's eight. Time for her to start bringing home some bacon....:)

Along with the stories about celebrities and other things, you will find many different stories about
regular people and people who have made the news for many different
reasons. It’s interesting how stars get annoyed when the paparazzi
takes pictures of them. The singer will not be charged for her public intoxication, but her boyfriend was charged a $30,000 bail
fee to release himself after he was tested positive for driving under the influence.
